Age Of Empires

Released in 1997 AOE is one classic real-time strategy games. With game modes of campaing and random map players are able to follow a storyline or play a normal match against a computer. With historic events like "the wheel" as technology upgrades through the ages.

Having played it several times the graphics of this is very limited compared to games you see nowadays. With different civilisations and multiplayer this appealed to people who like to play with different styles.

In 1999 ensemble studios released AOE2, compared to first of the series it has much better graphics and control over units. Campaigns follow great historic events and people such as "1066", "El Cid" and "Atilla the Hun". Such gameplay allows the enjoyment of learning history and pwning the computer at the same time. This made it a grat success with the ablility to create your own map and multiplayer with different ways of winning.

This is my actual gameplay taking more than 3hrs to finish

Spending many of my hours playing this game it is not surprising that The Age of Kings won Strategy Game of the Year and Computer Game of the Year at the 2000.

AOE3 the latest age is based on a modern era with mostly gunpowder units, playing with different civilisations like the other ages, it has much better graphics and the sight of units and building actually looking circular. Unlike the older AGES it has a circular map rather than a rectangular one making units walk in a straight line to an open area clicked and a more realistic look when units fall or get blown away by cannons.

The part i found disappointing about the game was that most military units were trained in bulks of 5, villagers dont carry resources, shipments and some buildings offer unlimited supply of resources at a steady rate. This greatly decreased the amount of skill and management when playing making it seem a bit easy.
